Build a testable AI chatbot prototype for an existing website. You will practice a server-side Netlify Function, a custom persona, mobile layout, rate limits, cost controls, abuse tests, and clear boundaries for chatbot output. No coding experience required; a working prototype is not automatically safe or production-ready.

Set up access safely
Create an Anthropic account and test a key without placing it in browser code or a public repository.
Connect Claude to your website safely
Create a Netlify Function that keeps your API key private on the server.
Build the chat widget
Add a floating chat button and window to your site as a React component.
Make it talk and control usage
Connect the widget to Claude through the server and add basic rate limiting and cost controls before sharing it.
Give your chatbot a personality
Write a system prompt that makes the chatbot feel like it belongs to your site.
Mobile, errors, and misuse
Test mobile layout, error states, prompt injection, abusive input, sensitive-data handling, and spending alerts.
Review before sharing
Test like a real visitor, define what the chatbot must not advise on, and decide whether a limited review share is appropriate.
Prototype the chatbot safely
Keep API keys server-side. Rate limiting, API cost controls, and misuse tests are part of the build—not optional polish.

- Do not present chatbot output as professional advice unless its scope and safeguards support that use.
